    Hi Bob,

My answer is in my last post for time. It would be helpful to know which plane the engine is on. I think tractor engines are easier than pushers and long nose planes like a Sport Cruiser or RV12 is easier than a short nosed Flight Design CT. The longer nose makes it much easier to get to things.

Long nose is about 7-8 hrs. and a Flight Design CT I pull the engine and it's 2 days. A CT has its engine somewhat recessed into the firewall with no way to get behind it well without using a lot of four letter words. For a pusher that's high up it is 2 days because you may have to be standing on something to get up onto the entire engine especially the front. These times of course depend on your experience level and familiarization with the process. The type of tools you have will also contribute to the time element. I know some people have taken 2-4 days.

, I assume when you say 7-8 hours you are saying that it will take 2 men 7-8 hours to do the work on a Sportcruiser or long nose as you put it?

    Hi Terry,

It's just me for the long nose LSA i.e. Sportcruiser, RV12, ect.... Depending on the plane's engine mounts it may add a tad more time. Some mounts are easy to swap. I rarely take breaks or lunch so that probably accounts for some time gained.
The average hose change includes: rubber engine mounts: all fuel, oil and coolant hoses: the 66mm carb balance tube hoses: the carb mount: carb diaphragm & "O" ring: and any air intake or heater tubes: oil purge: new coolant and oil/filter. The only clamps I use are the Oetiker clamps on fuel hoses: compression clamps on the 17mm from Rotax: fuel injection clamps on oil hoses: Wurth worm drive clamps on larger coolant hose and Band-It clamps on all fire sleeve. Absolutely no serrated wormdrive clamps like you might get in a hardware store for your garden hose.
I remove each hose individually and not a bunch at a time. I buy my hose and parts in bulk. I cut my new hoses as I take each off.

For a Flight Design CT it takes 2 men (me and a well trained friend) 11-12 hrs. and that includes pulling the engine , putting it back on, oil purge and doing a carb sync. The CT has hoses inside the instrument panel as well and I always change the engine mounts.

It really helps to have done so many, know what to go after, have the right parts on hand and have the proper tools.
Like anything else some are a little easier than others.
