My 2008 Sport Cruiser is powered by a newly replaced Rotax 912 ULS engine and had not been flown for about four weeks due to bad weather.

Upon trying to start the engine recently after burping the engine and tapping the fuel etc as usual I noticed that when turning on the electric pump prior to start up, the pump sounded louder than usual and also the fuel pressure gauge did not register an increase.

Despite this apparent failure of fuel pressure/flow I operated the starter anyway and the engine fired up straight away but stopped about 10 seconds later.

I have removed the electric fuel pump and had it tested which found that it was working properly. So any ideas what caused it because it has just sat in the hangar after its last smooth flight 4 weeks ago.

Ps: plenty of fuel in the tanks.

    Let's start with the obvious.

Is the fuel shut-off valve Open?

When you removed the fuel pump,
did fuel flow freely from the open hose?

A lot of air in the lines. Turn the pump back on and try and start it and let it run a few minutes and or pull a fuel hose off past the mechanical pump and then flip the electric pump on. Fuel should flow and if there is a lot of air then it should evacuate it out.

    p.s.
As Bill suggest I have seen several that didn't turn the fuel on.
