I removed #3 head for work. The 2 o rings on the intake manifold to head look ok. Is it necessary to replace them?

Many will tell you to always replace them. Most don't and they seem to work okay. If it's an older engine replace them and if it is fairly new then you may be just fine. Your decision. Rub a thin film of white lithium grease on them new or old. NO silicone.

    Hi David,

Because silicone will not mix and not compatible with fuel or oil. It can clog things, cause misfires and in enough quantity stop the engine.

White lithium grease is compatible with fuel and oil and when hot goes back to an oily state and can if necessary pass right through without any issues. Use this grease to lube your "O" rings

Thanks Roger. I was referring to and should have said "silicone spray". I was not referring to "silicone sealant". I totally agree that "silicone sealant" is highly inappropriate in such applications. White lithium grease sounds good.

    Hi David,

Don't even use silicone spray The white lithium grease is a good safe way yo go. I even rub my carb bowl gaskets down with it on the top, bottom and into the edges really good. Never had a leak. I never glob any of the grease on anything just rub it in.
