A friend just bought a new 912ULS and we ran into a problem with the upper engine mount bosses and the upper mount has to be modified to fit the new engine. His old engine was a 912 UL. The problem is that the boss on the gearbox is about 3/16" further forward on the gearbox compared to the old engine and I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue. Seems odd to me that Rotax would make that small change so that the mounts are not interchangeable for no apparent reason. The spacing on the. Lower mount is the same with both bosses on the engine block. His plane is a Kitfox 4 which has a lousy mount design but that is another story that does not relate to this issue.
