Hi all,

OK, I have high mounted pusher configuration, with ULS engine and no cowling. I am learning that it is beneficial to move propeller away from engine and wing as far as possible.

So, I can use the extension that I have (3") with my new 3-blade, 70" Powerfin prop. This will make my future cowling a little longer and will improve airflow, and will move prop away from trailing edge.

But I also heard that our gearboxes really don't like those kind of extensions. Will I be okay by doing this?

Thank you!

Many aircraft have a prop extension. You cab buy them many places. I just put a Sensenich 3 blade 68" prop on a Tecnam. It was just a tad over 3". It came with an extension to start with a fixed pitch prop.
Here's a tip few know. There is technical data to back it. A spinner is actually more beneficial on a pusher than a tractor prop set up. I learned this several years back during a big prop research project. There are Phd studies that back it up.
