This may sound like a wet blanket, but

The two key words here are VW engine. You can't use Continental, Lycoming, VW, Hurth or Jabiru when try to apply all their applications towards a Rotax. That VW is different than a Rotax and there are far too many things to list. It's loose tolerance, air cooled low compression, ect, ect.... It's just a different animal and has different specs and needs. Rotax has spent millions of dollars and man hours testing and designing and couple that with more than 5 million run hours and more than 50K engines and all running the majority portion of light aircraft in the world. Unless someone has dyno testing and thousands of hours on a different spec Rotax engine it would be just guess work at best as to any benefits.

We are in experimental aviation and this was very good experiment. If someone not comfortable with this one - no need to change anything at all. It was improvement for sure on my engine. Time will tell.

Just curious, What instruments and test did you run before and after to know it was better?

If it helps with the vibration I am all for it. Eric Tucker a Rotax factory expert explained and acknowledged the vibration (especially in the midrange RPM's) in a heavy maintenance class, it has to do with the with the different length of the intake manifold tubes between the front and back cylinders. This engine should have come with a vibration sensor and a warning light or meter on the panel. Motor vibration causes everything attached to wear out prematurely. It is good for Rotax parts and service business.
