Unusual flurry of responses to a year old post. Everythin from life insurance to fail to run mode. (Do bing 54s do this?)
I just think they are cool in that they are altitude compensating and function at most attitudes therefore would lend themselves well to aviation. Cost less than a set of bing 54 floats.
Anyhoo..back to the origional question...scroll back if you need to.

"Interested in these carbs. Seem well suited to Aviation.any one have first hand experience?
The original question did not state you were looking for a replacement for the Bing 54, that is much different from the Bing 64 on the 4 stroke. The answer to your question about altitude compensating is NO, the 54 does not alter fuel flow by altitude. And also no I have no experience with Smartcarb. All my experience with 2 stroke carbs that did altitude compensation were with HAC kits that Rotax used to supply. We also used Ellison throttle body systems on aerobatic conversions.
i think we were all bored and just wanted to comment on the subject as it seemed nobody wanted to chime in. There are other carbs for 2 strokes that are similar but have never found a big following for some reason. As an experiment I guess it would be interesting to see. If you don't have excessive altitude change then it is not really a concern for most i suspect. The good thing about aviation with fixed pitch props is the engine load on the prop drops proportionally to the power loss. Because of this the richer running is not normally a major issue.
i note that as of today:
Cheers
