Hi, I would like to see a video or a blog with pictures ,of the 912 oil filter medium inspection. 25 hr and regular oil change would be nice.
It would be nice to compare a persons filter medium with examples of acceptable and not , filter medium pictures. It could be combined with the magnetic plug inspection possibly.

I am working on the 25 hr inspection for a new 912 uls , I expect a little more metal in the filter medium and on the magnetic plug than a typical 50 hr oil change but with nothing to reference than the max rotax specs its difficult to determine what is in the acceptable range and if there should be a concern.

    Hi Kevin,

    Try this.

This is how I do it. I wash the filter like the video shows. You see every little spec and nothing hides.

That's a good video covering the basics.

I guess I am looking for more detailed high definition pictures/video on the actual metal found in the medium pleats or on the strained shop towel in order to compare and help decide if its within spec and things are good ,or not .

I doubt you'll ever see big metal chunks and if you ever do you'll already know you have a major problem before you ever pull the filter.

I visual is just a look for large visual pieces and if you want to get a better handle on things just do an oil analysis once a year at the annual.
