The one thing every pilot fears the most is engine failure. This is even more a concern for us pilots who fly 2 cycle engines like the 582. Although it has a great safety record we still listen to every fire of each piston waiting for the dreaded silence of an engine out. The problem is even worse for us low and slow flyers because there is little time to pick a place among the trees to put the plane down. I read an article about an Israeli company who mounted up an electric motor to a 912 and thought that if a hybrid 582 ever presented itself I would buy one.

Are there others out there with similar concerns? Is there a market for such a Hybrid? Is a Hybrid available to meet this market? Is anyone working on such a thing? If you guys find anything send it to me at garthhandlon@yahoo.com
