At idle to low RPM the front carb spits fuel out of the balancing tube. When I add a little power above 2500RPM the spitting stops. The floats and the float arms move freely and no debree in the sump. Any clue to the fix?

    Hi James,

You need to balance the carbs better, or the prop or you may even have poor engine mounts. If the carbs shake from some vibration they will spit. If the bowls are too full they will, as you say, spit.

First thing that comes to mind is the float needle valve. If the viton tip is worn or a tiny bit of trash is lodged in the float valve orifice, the float bowl can overfill at idle. You might check the float arms as well to see that they are level. Rare problem can be a sinking float. Shake them and see if any fuel is leaking into either of the floats. I have seen dirty needle valves and seats that poured fuel out of the balance tubes at idle but operated normally above idle. It's an easy fix if you don't lose that teeny spring clip that holds the float needle.

    Thanks Bill,

I totally spaced the float needle valve.

Bill & Roger Thanks, I'll be checking the floats and needle valve.
