Do keep in mind that the 1994 462-532-582 Repair manual is not actually a "Current 582 Overhaul Manual" and does not contain any revisions made since then (The 1994 repair manual is no longer an officially supported document, that's why you won't find it published on the factory website) - whoever is distributing it should really have watermarked it:

HISTORICAL DOCUMENT - FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY (ENGINES NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION: Information May Be Outdated)

Thanks for the replies. I downloaded the 94 manual and took it to a printer who made a bound copy for me. Admin, with all due respect, to not allow technical info to be disseminated is kind of ridiculous. Highly skilled people like me will work on our engines, to what our skill level and available instrumentation allows. And people who will build engines or do repairs for others will also due this anyway. To not allow torque specs and other critical info to be available does not help the sport/hobby, at all.

Renovate7 is right on. I think is is pretty far fetched to assert that withholding important repair documents is somehow going to help Rotax in court after Farmer Joe crashes when his wife is sobbing "if only he had the service manual".

There are also a number of states that have right to repair laws that require manufactures to provide service documents, so depending on where you live, Rotax or their distributor in your region may very well be violating the law by withholding them.

I do agree with the sentiments expressed by ToddK & Renovate7... but I am sure that ROTAX is only following the advice of their legal teams. You can enquire about obtaining 'out-of-print' items with the local ROTAX distributor in your region.

Following the publication guidelines from ROTAX, we have already published some of the older docs, watermarked "HISTORICAL DOCUMENT - FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY (ENGINES NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION: Information May Be Outdated)". And there are a few more in the historical paper archives that I hope to scan, watermark, and publish soon.

You can find these legacy documents on our ENGINE MANUALS page. (Which is due to be expanded and improved shortly!)
