Hi everyone, new here, I recently had a problem with my engine, and I now start to have strange details that make me question the hours the engine can have. In that matter, I am wondering if you can find out the manufacturing date for instance, or any other details? I searched the rotax website, and got the engine configuration search results as follow :

     4172389
     ROTAX 582 UL
     ROTAX 582 UL Mod. 99
     Approved according to ASTM F2339
     305820010

Can you get something about manufacturing date? It’s head seems to have been painted blue, but not from factory, so sort of a scam…?! (I’d expect Overhauls are not registered to the manufacturer…)

It would be of great help to me.
Good flights to anyone here and thank’s for the forum!

    Engine Serial Number: 4172389

ROTAX 582 UL Mod 90 (Grey Head) *Please note that the information you received about your engine being a ROTAX 582 UL Mod 99 is incorrect*

    Manufacturing Date: 15.12.1993

TBO: 300 hours or 5 years (whichever comes first)

Your engine is a Mod 90 (grey head), produced until 1999. After 1999, Rotax upgraded the cooling system and introduced the 582 Mod 99 (blue head). Given the 5-year TBO, your engine should have undergone at least six overhauls since it was manufactured.

We strongly recommend sending your engine to an authorized Rotax Service Center for a proper overhaul, which includes replacing the crankshaft with a genuine Rotax 582 crankshaft. If a mechanic claims to be a "Rotax expert" but does not replace the crankshaft, you are not getting a true overhaul. It’s crucial to be cautious about where you send your engine.

To ensure quality service, here is a list of recognized Rotax facilities where you can arrange a complete and authentic overhaul. https://dealerlocator.flyrotax.com
