There is no downside to installing fire sleeve, but there are several upsides and safety is #1.

    Sean,

If you had an engine fire in flight with no fire sleeve and the temps went to 1800F - 2000F and you knew during this you were going to die because of a fuel and oil fed fire what would you give to live. The answer would be anything. So instead of giving the farm away spend just a couple hundred dollars, live life and keep the farm.
Safety first. Fire sleeve is a long time proven smart installation.

As a firefighter, paramedic, HazMat Tech and Technical Rescue person for 30 years and  trying to save people that make bad decisions you ALWAYS try to error on the good, smart and best practice side. If people made better decisions firefighters, doctors and police could cut their call load in half.

    Thanks Roger,

I  have firesleeve ---- sort of.

All of my fuel line is sleeved -principally to mitigate fuel heating/vaporisation.

Some of my oil hose is sleeved, where it has not been possible to rout it far away from the exhaust system /heat, to reduce the chance of radiant heat damage to the hose wall. I also use other forms of insulation, in a targeted way, to enhance the effect of the orange sleeve.

None of my firesleeve has the fire resistant finish/ends.

Sure! In the fiery moments before death, I might wish that I had installed firesleeve to certified standards. This type of emotive argument, it is why many don't fly - their choice.

I focus on prevention - my aircraft/engine is meticulously maintained (by me). All AD's are attended to immediately. All service/maintenance componente meet/exceed Rotax standards. 5 year rubber is comprehensive (all rubber ) replaced on time. You may ask - why not go that extra step? and fit firesleeve to certified standards - just seems to me to be chasing the safety rabbit further down the never ending burrow.😈
