    Hi
Where can I find information on the installation of the mushroom valve etc to fit it on a 912?
I have the p/n of the valve and the spring.

    Hi James,

I don't think there is any explicit instructions, but this is very easy and only takes a few minutes.
Have your new oil plug screw, new spring and mushroom assembled.Locate the old plug screw just to the left of the oil filter and just below. The old plug screw is flat in shape and yellow. The new one is more aluminum colored and its head is recessed. Unscrew this and allow it to just drop on down and with it the spring and old ball bearing will come with it. You will drool oil so have the new assembly in the other hand and just slide it back up and in place of the old one. Torque the new plug screw to 18 ft/lbs if the threads are dry, but they will most likely have oil on them so the wet torque is 11 ft/lbs. Then safety wire the new plug to a little hole about 2.5" just behind the plug screw.
Your all done. Make sure you put this in your logbook with part numbers.

    Hi James

I would just add that you are better off doing it with a cold engine, before the first start of the day, and then you won't drip much oil, if any. If the engine is warm, the oil will go everywhere.

:) Problem solved! At last we got around to installing a replacement valve from Lockwood Supply. Used the existing spring, and yes the job can be a bit messy - cover everything under the valve with rags. The result is a steady reading with a slight increase in cruise pressure once everything is warmed up. Thanks to all who steered us in the right direction!
