    Hi Kenneth,

We were just discussing this on another thread. When you shut down and have a nice tight cowl setup the heat just cooks the fuel lines and then vapor forms in the lines. The fuel pump does not pump vapors and the carbs don't work well either with partial vapor. First make sure all your fuel lines are fire sleeved which not only protects them from fire, but it does help some with insulation. Make sure your engine has a recirculation line. Don't use the choke on a hot start. Crack the throttle a tad to allow a little better flow. A tad does not mean a bunch, just crack it open. Once started let it run a few minutes to bring in and recirculate some cooler fuel which will help cool the fuel lines and fuel pump. Another tip is to use Header Wrap Cloth on your exhaust pipes down to and over the knuckles just above the muffler. This can cut heat from them by up to 70%. Here is my point.. If you fly your plane and land who would pull the top cowl off and grab their exhaust pipes?
Not anyone on bare metal and expect to keep their skin. I have a vary large majority of my clients that have wrapped exhaust. When I fly and pull my cowl off I can grab my exhaust pipes and I get to keep my skin. The point is there is a tremendous help in heat reduction from connectivity and radiated heat. This heat reduction will save wires, hoses and help reduce fuel vaporization. The people I have done this for don't have any hot start issues. The cost is $50 for the 2" wide header wrap from most automotive stores.
    p.s.
Everyone should have fuel and oil lines fire sleeved.
