    Hi David,

Too many middlemen, taxes, tariffs before a dealer in the US marks them up double. Everyone wants their cut.

We go thru carb flanges like crazy. We are doing very quick (sometimes as little as 5 min) turnarounds and there is a little fuel build up from shut down in the intake. When you restart quickly it does not give the fuel time to evaporate, and "pop" there goes your carb flange. Anybody else experience this problem?

I don't know why anyones carb flanges wouldn't last. On all the engines that we do maint on we change them out at the 5 year rubber replacement and they are not cracked or weathered. This is not to say it can't happen, but if you have to do more than one or on much of a regular basis then I would find out why it happens. Don't keep throwing more sockets at the engine find the cause. I could see a 2 stroke flange go bad before a 912 4 stroke or if the engine is left in the elements, lots of vibration, exposed to ozone or chemicals. I don't think I would blame the flange it may be the maint., lack of or not following the Rotax manual. I see engines from all over the country and it is rare to hear from an owner that they replace carb sockets all the time. There has to be a cause and seeing that it isn't happening to everyone, but a small number I would narrow down the cause because the flanges that do go bad seem to happen again to the same people.
