Yeah, I know the answer is probably "that depends," but still might like both some suggestions on depends-on-what, as well as actuall hours others are going between doing resyncing.

BTW: recently had carbs on our 912ul rebuilt after about 700 hours and 15 years on it.
They clearly on examination were well due for rebuild, but nothing that would have been immediately dangerous
In there even after that long period of time.
After rebuild and sync we do have noticeably smoother operation through the full range of RPM and slightly better fuel consumption.

That depends. (couldn't resist it.) I check mine at each annual but haven't had to adjust the sync. in a couple of years. The closer you are to idle, the more likely you are to notice rough running due to out of sync carbs. Other things can cause rough idle as well, but manifold pressure is the easiest thing to check. I've found on most engines that it is not the carbs to blame but the quadrant, cables and splitters leading up to the carbs. An often overlooked problem in syncing.

Do them at the annual and or 100 hr. Do them if you have a problem or suspected problem with carbs or to help with a fuel flow diagnosis. Do them anytime you disconnect the carbs and or cables. It never hurts to do a carb sync. I check and sync all my customer carbs at idle and 3500 rpm. 2500 in the book is too low and too close to idle and doesn't flow enough air and fuel to be useful. Once they are set and if done at the inspections they take 15-20 minutes and it's healthier for the engine. Once you do them a few times then they are easy. You need to take time to understand the system and once you do that every thing falls into place.
