I'm looking at using the 956 651 M16x1.5/3/4-16 oil return line adapter instead of the supplied banjo bolt setup. Does anyone have any experience with this? Seems the sealing surface where the copper washer contacts it is very small. I'm worried about it leaking. Also there is no safety wire hole...

Thank you in advance.

Dave, i have this exact set up, no problems or leaks at this point. The return hose is held in place with Adel clamps to avoid the exhaust pipes, so it all stays in place w/o safety wire. Pay attention to the torque rotation to crush the copper gasket. The EAA website has a short instructional video. The degrees of tightening vary on threads per inch. I think the adapter was 135 degrees after contact, but check. I do have other oil connections that slightly weep. I need to use a heavier bodied thread sealer/paste next time. I use Mobil MX-4 oil, which seems to be good at weeping through connections. But, the weeping is definitely not worth an entire oil system purge/redo. I never have had to add oil, so that's my bottom line. In fact, you can't see any loss on the dip stick. good luck scott.

    Dave,

I use that same setup all over. Never had a leak, not even weeping. There is very little pressure on the return line and very little suction on the supply line.

Also use 243 Loctite on the threads of the adaptor and you will not have any leaks.
