Well, the saga continues but I'm afraid the money is gone. I found what appear to be cracks in my engine mount.
the new mount is nearly 1000 bones with the associated hardware and obvious rubber parts replacement. I won't bother with more inspection than these photos show. I'll just replace the whole mount with the upgraded version. I"m not looking forward to it. It seems that this years flying budget was spent on repairs and repairmen with no flight time. Well you know what they say, "never feel sorry for a fella with an airplane."
Any words of wisdom (or consolation) for what to expect in the removal and reinstallation phase?

Thats too bad about the cracks:( Sorry to hear that, but you don't want to be flying like that !

This is on a kf 4 ,right ?

Maybe take this as an opportunity to make changes to things that you don't like or or not totally in the proper spot. I am thinking wire runs and wire protection, fastening . possibly oil line routing.

maybe additions like an oil thermostat, coolant thermostat or coolant shutoff for the heater . Is it time for the 5 year rubber replacement? Oil, coolant, fuel lines, it would be an opportune time to do this.

Just thinking of things I could have done all at once instead of individually , when things were apart.

Hope you get safely back in the air soon.

    Hi Jay,
call the new Kitfox company, maybe you can get the new mount that allows the intake manifolds to stay in the stock position? That will prevent so many issues!
    Maybe just a pipedream?

Hey Rob, Thank you! I called KitFox and they said that switching the carbs back will work. It looks like I'll have to redrill the firewall access for the cables and I did order the vernier cable you recommended. I'll look at the parts list and see what I will need. I'll keep you posted. Maybe now I can find that nagging little oil leak.

I like the way you think. I'll change all the hoses now because of the five year thing. I'll put in the vernier cable too, it's the heavy duty one Rob Seaton recommended to me a while back. the hose clamps connections all bug me, I can't find the little oil leak that keeps dripping off my starter. I"ll inspect that too. Anyway, I'll try and clean things up a bit, just frustrated at the never ending breakage list. I would not buy another used plane for anything.
But, now that I have taken this one apart down to its bones and rebuilt it, its mine.

oops, nope, the carb switch will NOT work. The CDI and the oil tank are in the way. I'm not messing with that. Im finished with any "extra curricular" maintenance.
