Hello,

I am new to this forum, I am from Quebec city Canada and own a Ultravia Pelican PL on floats with a Rotax 914 plane/engine have 108hrs TTSN.

Here is my problem, I bought the plane in flying condition in USA and brought it to Canada on a trailer. I decided to clean it up over winter and had the turbo sent to a shop to have it stripped ceramic treated and then they re-assembled it with a new bushing/seal kit even if everything was pretty much new. Now the problem I have is when the plane sits for let say 2-3 days it starts leaking oil between the hot/cold sections. After about a week the turbo literally fill up with oil as I can see it in the air filter and exhaust side. I have checked if the flow was coming back from the scavenge tank to the main oil tank by removing the main oil tank return line from the turbo and I get a continuous flow. I am wondering if anybody here could have an idea where to look to find the issue?
Here is what I already done.

Check for return flow at the main oil tanks.
Replace the banjo bolt spring and ball with new parts.

    The problem is the check valve on top of the turbo.
    As you have already replaced the ball, spring, and banjo make sure you did get the special banjo with the machined seat to fit the ball. p/n 840730
    Then re-work the seat by hitting it, with a ball in place, with a small hammer. this will seat the ball into the banjo. Examine the banjo for damage, it should be straight and not deformed.
    You can also use lapping compound to make a better fit but the hammer technique is actually better.
    Then you need to replace the ball with a new one.
    You then need to clean out as much of the oil from the cold section and airbox as you can. Otherwise you will think the re-work did not work as oil will continue to come out.

    Thanks Rob,

    I did install the newer Rotax Banjo and components, I will try hammering the ball in the banjo bolt, I start to be quite disoriented with this annoying oïl issue... I have been dealing with it for quite a while and really hope to fix it right this time.

    Just to follow up on my oil issue. Thank you Rob it look like you were right with the ball sitting in the banjo. I did as you explained and after a week I haven’t seen a single drop of oil, I left the turbo scavange tank removed with a small tub under it to see if oil would still go thru the banjo and after a week I cant see any oil so I guess it is fixed..

    Problem still exist... Geeez, I am tired of it! I left the engine sat and barely any oil in the tub with the scavenge tank removed for few weeks. I reinstalled the scavenge tank burped the engine without running it and let it sat for few days and boom turbo filled with oil again... I am tired of dealing with this! Any idea?
