Basic question regarding the ignition switches...

when the engine is running, are the ignition switches open or closed?

I'm thinking that they are open, and that closing them completes the ground which shuts down the ignitions.

Is that correct?

Oddly I couldn't find this information in the 914 installation manual.

Great video about Loctite by the way!

The Rotax ignition switches are just like the magneto switches used by other aircraft engines: they are open when the engine is operating and grounded to stop the engine.
See 914 Installation manual Page 116 for the wiring diagram:

Thanks Rob. That's what I thought but needed confirmation so that I don't mount the switches upside down. I did see that diagram in the installation manual, but I was not able to figure out the answer from it.

I almost made a mistake on the turbo switch. I had it all set up for a single pole and then I saw that it needs to be double pole. Clearances are so tight that means moving the switch about 1/4 inch to accommodate the larger switch body, but thankfully I'm still working on the template and not the real panel.

    Anyway, thanks again.
