Electronics tend to either be bad or good and not usually on a calendar time schedule. This leads me to believe this is fuel related especially since it starts well each day if started the day before. How many hours on the engine? How many hours since the carbs have either been inspected or rebuilt? Any other running anomalies?

    Hi Mark

Thanx for the reply, I will try to get hold of ignition coils and hopefully it is the problem. We also got some advice from an AMO that if the engine turns over a fraction too slow that the ignition coils will not generate enough power to ignite the coils. We, however, made sure that the battery is up to 13.6 V before we crank the engine but still no luck. I still have to establish at what rpm the engine have to turn over to create enough power to ignite the coils the eliminate the starter motor as the problem.

The next time it takes an extended cranking session to get it started; Once it starts, shut it down immediately.
The battery is now about as weak as it is ever going to get, and the engine has not had a chance to warm up.
Wait a few minutes for what little heat there is in the engine to dissipate, then try starting it again.
If it starts up promptly you can pretty well eliminate the battery, starter, and ignition coils.

Your symptoms sound consistent with Low/No fuel in the Carb Bowls.
It takes an extended cranking session to refill the carbs. Once refilled, all becomes normal.
If you don't have a carb leak, consider that the fuel is just evaporating during the week in storage.

I have the same problem. > 20 seconds to start the first time of the day. Starts instantly the rest of the day. 2010 912 ULS 900 hours. Replaced the electronic modules, 6 months ago. Start problem started about 4 months ago Choke linkage seems OK. Replaced the carb floats. I tried using the aux fuel pump - doesn't help. If it is low fuel in the carbs, how do I fix it.
    Thanks

    Good day

I have a 912 ULS on a low wing plane and when it stays stopped for a long period the first thing I do is to activate the electric fuel pump for about 10 seconds to pressurize the line and them initiate the start up normal procedure. don´t know if it works in a 914 but for the 912 is perfect the engine starts on the firt revolution.
