Hello Rotax Owners,

Does anyone know if Permatex Insensitive Blue (medium strength) can be used instead of Loctite 243 (oil resistance formula? The Rotax manual says to use Loctite 243 (oil resistant) for the fuel pump nuts but Permatex seems a lot more readily available. The comparison charts for both seem very similar. The application would also be for the gearbox hex screws.

Thank you all!

Permatex Blue is an equivalent competitive product to Locktite Blue.
I don't see why either one would not work just as well as the other.

Pick up some Low Strength Purple while you are at it.
It is geat at sealing up threads to prevent leaks but weak enough that you will not break anything when removing the part.
Don't let the LOW STRENGTH on the label scare you off.
It is lower strength than the Blue, but the difference is hard to notice.
You will still need a wrench to remove the part.
