Hi,

I have looked and asked around and have yet to find a person that tells me they run their needles on a different setting than the middle one (third position) on their carburators.

I am flying mostly (80%) out of a filed at 6,000ft elevation. Of course I will visit the beaches and lower elevation areas, but the base airport is at 6,000.

Would this merit using any other setting rather than the third?
What can I expect if I change the setting to a leaner one? More power? Hotter temps?

Thanks

Fredy

    Hi Fredy,

If you flew out of that 6K ft. airport and stayed above that all the time then going to the #2 position wouldn't be an issue. I would be vigilant about doing so going down to sea level especially on a cold morning. If just the right conditions arose you could be on the lean side. Prop pitch will play a big factor in sea level vs high altitude flying.

    p.s.
You could just leave it on the #3 clip position and it will still run fine to your higher altitudes.
