Hi,

I am about to change the sprag clutch on my 912ULS, all parts are in hand, flywheel puller ready machined, “mushroom” also.

Now I need to know the size of the nut that holds the sprag housing. On the MMH this is only mentioned as 35x1.5! But that is the tread not the nut itself i guess!

What is the socket size that you guy use to remove it? It also needs to be long reach right?

Tx

    Hi,

Yesterday I managed to change the sprag clutch :) Unfortunately I had to find out the size of the clutch holding nut the hard way, it's a 46-size nut!

However, I need someone to shed some light here; I checked the axial clearance of the freewheel gear as below, I have around 3.5 mm of play.. is this normal?

I can’t shim this, as the freewheel gear can’t be removed from the crank, another question is the busing pressed on the freewheel? Mine could be easily be removed from the freewheel gear.

    both are normal
the axial clearance of the sprag is taken after the nut is torqued,
This axial clearance checks to make sure the tapered fit is not enlarged, allowing the sprag housing to become too close to the freewheel gear.
the freeplay of the freewheel gear by itself is irrelevant.

Okay, thanks for your inout Rob!

Now last question if you dont mind; what type of oil lines do you use? I need to change mine due to the 5yrs replacment.

However I am only finding SAE 100R6, according to the datasheet max temp is 100 degrees Celcieus.

What I had was equivalent and it did get a be hard,

    Tx
