agreed, give the 648 12+hrs (with no movement) to cure and it will not leak.
I am more "thrifty" than Roger, just a small amount of 648 will do the job, too much and it just runs out the bottom into your valve cover area.

    LOL :)
I didn't want the tube swimming in Loctite just no bare areas and I agree it should set.
Plus if it's placed on the tube end and not inside the head hole any excess should be wiped back away from going into the tube as it is inserted and could then any excess on the outside could be wiped off with rag.

How did you get the dam tube out?

  • Re: 912 Oil Return Tubes

It is actually known as the "Damn" Tube.  But that is a different issue. cool

You need to heat the Block and the tube up to 250°C (475°F) to get the Locktite to soften.

Good luck With That!!!  Don't even try it !!!

The only reason to remove it is if you are going to replace it anyway.

Grap the tube just above the block with a big pair of channel locks and squeeze.

As the Tube Crushes will tear away from the inside of the hole and come out.

Clean out the old residue with Acetone or Toluene if you do not want to buy the official Locktite 768 Solvent (Nitromethane, $$$)
