Hi folks
Our 914 no longer raised the manifold pressure. When we opened the turbo it was completely stuck. However, it started to rotate with finger force. Because the turbine was pretty rough, we suspected it caused the problem. As the turbine rotated freely, we cleaned the turbine housing and the test track went well. Have others had similar problems.

Yes, especially in humid environments like Florida were the turbo is new with tight tolerances and infrequently used corrosion can lock up the turbine blades with the housing.

once same problem was observed with me, one 914 was run in GROUND position for longer time 40 minutes. oil temp rises but not observed. fuel 100LL.
after cooling found the turbo chargers was stuck with carbon etc. that was clean with fuel and oil pressure.
    now okay.

Today I flew in the afternoon. The density altitude was 9100 ft, the outside temp 91 degrees f. The manifold pressure went up to 40 at full throttle but very soon it dropped down to 36 at full throttle. Is this normal? Or should the tcu be capable of maintaining the 40 psi? Please tell me if this is ok. I already made sure that the waste gate cable tension is ok.

Did your boost warning light come on? Even though the turbo boost is described as 5 minutes on followed by 5 minutes off, I have been told that the system shortens the allowed time in boost in hotter weather and longer in boost in cooler weather. I searched for more information and have not found anything to contradict the simple 5 minute limit.

No, the light did not come on. It is just that the 40 in of manifold pressure are not holding. Thanks
