Dear All, do you know where we can find the detailed tools list required for Scheduled Maintenance on the Rotax engine 912 Series.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

There isn't an official tools list published by ROTAX - and keep in mind that the tool requirements vary from engine to engine and even from configuration to configuration.

If you have taken the iRMT heavy Maintenance training, then you would have learned there what all of the required tools are.

As for the Line Maintenance training, a tools list for 912 is quite simple.
Unofficially, you would be looking at something like this:

Special Line maintenance tools for Rotax 912 Series engines

    • Metric wrenches, and sockets.

    • Good quality Allen socket sets (Allen keys are not acceptable; all screws must be torqued to specified values).

    • 5/8” or 16mm spark plug socket. Do not use a standard socket as they do not have the rubber insert to hold & support insulator. Snap-on S9706KFUA swivel socket works very well

    • Fish scale for friction torque test and tight engine test.

    • Carb Mate or Dual manifold gauge (from twin engine aircraft) for synchronizing carbs or suitable set of vacuum gauges with hoses and valves to connect to induction manifolds.

    • Crankshaft locking pin p/n 240880

    • Oil filter cutter.

Probably some of our members here can expand on this...

Torque wrenches, oil filter removal tool (Roger Lee's wrench is handy), spark plug gap gages, differential compression tester, gram scale (for weighing floats), inspection mirrors and flashlights (Get this on sale:  https://www.harborfreight.com/390-lumen-magnetic-slim-bar-folding-led-work-light-63958.html), safety wire twist pliers (and diagonal cutters and needle nose pliers), safety wire, and ohhh so much more. :<)

I would add: an electronic scale that measures at least down to tenths of grams for checking carb float weight (available at your local "head shop", ha)

    David,

Why do you prefer a handheld light versus a good, bright, rechargeable headlight that looks where you are looking at any time?  Ever since I tried a Boruit headlight, I wonder how I got by without it for so long.

I've got a couple of head lamps that I use when appropriate.  I have found that the very bright, thin 12" stick light is great for illuminating those hidden, dark recesses that lurk between the firewall and the rear of the engine.
