To the Carbmate or Dual Vacuum gauges I would a Carbtune unit as an alternative. We were told that is what Van's uses in their operation.
It is produced in Great Britain originally for motorcycle enthusiasts as I understand, but it works very very well, needs no batteries, and I'm told can be helpful in diagnosing some problems that the Carbmate "high/low" lights cannot.
