Re: First time carb sync and then this happened??

One other thing you might check are the nipples on the CarbMate. The hoses that attach to them are not "pull off proof." When I use the tool, I must be careful to keep both hoses fully attached. What's more, since the nipples are plastic, if they accidentally get cracked, even a small hairline crack, it would result is an erronous vacuum leak. Just sayin'.

Thanks Bill. You're right. It would be easy to crack one of those tiny connections. But my hoses seem to be a very tight fit on them. I have to pull pretty hard to remove them.
Update: I have 3.4 hours on it between yesterday and today and it's running great.
Since I didn't find a smoking gun, I'm going to guess that the rough idling during the sync process caused the carb bowl level to rise to a point that it flooded. I believe this because after emptying the carb bowls during the inspection and then restarting, the CarbMate indication shifted back in the opposite direction. I believe all of my adjustments were done with a higher than normal level in the bowls because I had to back off of my original adjustments to balance it back out. Anywho, it's doing well.
On the subject of carb floats, has anyone ever tried the Marvel-Schebler floats for the Rotax? Described as solid one-piece epoxy that will not leak, absorb fuel, or break apart. I will consider them if I have to replace my floats again. Anyone?

I have had a set of Marvel-Scwebler floats in my Rotax 912 for about 2 months now. They seem to work fine and hopefully the last set I buy.
