OK, I installed a new (correct) piston for the 2/4 carb, and that seems to have solved the mystery of my low EGTs on #2 at idle. The engine seems to run much more smoothly now at all rpms, although a complete new sync may have something to do with that too. ?
I seem to remember someone else had low EGTs on just one cylinder at idle in another thread. I will suggest that he inspect his carbs very carefully, specifically the carb pistons.

Trying to track down the CSIR you submitted and need to know what engine S/N you used?
Thanks!
