Oil Change Screwup
Hi All,
I drained the oil tank then realized I forgot to burp the engine before. So, I burped it (that sounded like it always does) and more oil came out.
Did I screw up?…

It depends on how many turns of the prop you did.
If it was only 3-4 slow rotations you should be fine.
If you are an aggressive "Burper" and cranked it over 10 turns, then Maybe.
After you get it filled back up, crank it with the MAGs OFF until you see Oil Pressure.
If pressure does not appear within 10 seconds of cranking, perform the "Purge" routine.

If you ever mess up again, pull the screw for the Crank Locking Pin or the Mag Plug Screw and blow in a two-second blast of shop air.
This will pressurize the crankcase and produce a Burp in about 4 seconds.

Hi Bill,
It burped in no more than 3 slow turns.
How would I crank the engine without turning on the mags? Doesn’t the process of turning the key to start turn on the mags?
Thanks,
Craig

Just pull the multiway connectors off the ignition modules or pull the HT leads off the plugs.

Note: individual mag switches allow cranking the engine without energizing the mags.

Sadly, I don't have individual mag switches. I can see now how that can be useful though.
