What is the practical minimal operating temperature for startup and in flight operation for Rotax 912 ULS?  I have read that some of the engine electronics are rated to -22F, which is way under normal recreational flying.    Winter in the Midwest is approaching.

Keeping it in a hangar during the snow season is best. Installing a Tanis block and oil heater is a really good idea. I have installed quite a few of these and the owners all like them. Engine temps are nice and toasty during the cold days. Placing a blanket over the cowl will help too. Many place a strip of 2" wide aluminum tape across the radiator and cooler to keep temps up while flying. Use the thin aluminum tape and do not use duct tape, gorilla tape or the thick aluminum tape. They will leave a sticky residue where the thin paper backed aluminum tape will not.
