When you apply it correctly it rarely ever splits or cracks and can last years. When you apply the tape DO NOT stretch it or it will split down the road. Pull it out and just lay it down. I clean the old residue off with "Goof-Off" cleaner. It's meant for just that type of job.
I also use the Bolus tape and I agree it can last for years, when applied correctly.
I agree with your non stretch advice, where there is little or no curve/bend/profile change.
If you want a nice "streamlined" look & minimal tape usage, this is where you need to stretch, so that the tape conforms to the shape/profile.
For best adherence/durability, start & end with no stretch.

Thank you very much!
It was the tape at the bottom of the tail.
this is it after redoing it.
Maaaate! Whats with all the tape ? You've lost 5 knots and shifted the Cof B - should have been able to achieve a nice clean look with just 2-3 lengths.?
I was in a hurry to try it mate!!!
I will clean everything now and do it much better.
