CHT ring probe

If you are not monitoring coolant/head temperature, why bother installing the ring terminal?

 I do want to monitor ch head temp , just using the dry 10 mm ring probe (thermocouple ) because that’s what my EMS hardware supports.

My point was I don’t plan to reuse the old probe (thermistor ) for anything else so I was wondering if I can just use it as a bolt for the thermocouple..

I got 2 brass M10 1.5 bolts at McMaster - they only had 20 mm so I had to cut it down to about 16 mm and  both thread very nicely under the cylinder head - I think I am good.

I can not see any significant problem with using the temperature sender as a bolt BUT would suggest that your McMaster fix will be more secure, look professional and may, very slightly, transmit head temperatures better.
