Alternator choices
For those who need an alternate source of electricity or just more amps, you have three choices I am aware of:
1. Belt driven alternator from the gearbox propshaft. This is the most popular.
2. Alternator bolted to gearbox vacuum pad - BandC.com provides these.
3. Alternator stacked on top of internal engine alternator - edgeperformance provides these.
the gearbox alternators run at about 1/2 the speed as the crank alternator so produce less power.
the stacked-on-crank alternator seems to be much less experienced and could have space problems depending on your configuration.
does anyone have experience with the edge performance alternators?
