Re: 914F3 coolant leak/sticking wastegate

sticking wastegates have always been an issue with leaded fuels. In some cases it occurs with auto fuel but it it not as common. The type 914 wastegate butterfly shaft is simply running in the housing without a "bearing" and buildup of materials will lead to sticking. The early versions of this design there was no lube bore to wash out the buildup and lube. For many years now there is a small drill hole on the housing that you can clean the shaft and then lube.
Mouse Milk is great, its job is to clean the part, it is not a lubricant. Spray it into the bore hole on the wastegate shaft and then exercise the shaft until it moves freely. Once clean then use your high temp lube (nickel anti-seize) in the shaft bore to prevent corrosion and reduce more sticking.
Works for me...Cheers

Thank you! Yes that is exactly my plan right now, as you've stated - Mouse Milk to clean, and the Loctite for lubrication. I'll be working this procedure within a few days - looking forward to seeing how it works out. The SB I mentioned earlier, suggesting removal of the muffler to access that wastegate shaft, is something I also want to do.
