I just tested a fuel pressure regulator said to be identical to the Bosch, although the ad called it an aftermarket replacement in one section, another section of the ad listed it as a Bosch along with the part number.

The regulator does not have any manufacturing markings, but it did fit.  However, the function was far from the Bosch specification of 3.0 bar.

The best fuel pressure I could get was between 38 and 39 psi.  Obviously not a drop in replacement.

I haven't tested the actual Bosch (automotive) model.

The same part number from Rotax has been used for more than 10 years.  Insisting it is the same even without matching numbers on the parts is your issue, not mine.  I don't believe they are.

If you are flying an experimental great, use it.  i am perplexed at why you got a Rotax and want to use nothing from Rotax if you can avoid it.

Without "capitalism" there would be no new engines.

Of course this is my opinion, as you have yours.

    Cheers

That's a stretch to say I "want to use nothing from Rotax." Everything I've used up to this point is a Rotax part. I'm just not interested in being charged $400 for a $20 part. Would you not mind paying $100,000 for a $20,000 car?

I just tested the Bosch automotive fuel pressure regulator.  The fuel pressure is identical to the original Rotax supplied regulator.

I definitely use original Rotax parts in my maintenance work. But it doesn't make sense to buy the following from Rotax.

You may use Bosch 0 280 160 557 instead of Rotax 889262 fuel pressure regulator in iS engine.

    Also, Bosch 0 450 905 021 instead of 874060 fuel filter.

There is also a Bosch equivalent of the 966482 throttle position sensor for 914s, but I can't think of the code right now. It can be found with a little searching. Bosch much, much cheaper and 100% identical.

I haven't found a complete solution to the dual ground spark plug yet... :)

    Hello,

I'm trying to fix a turbo problem on a 914 and I'd like to rule out the throttle position sensor.

I'm trying to find a substitute for the 966482 as mentioned above but have had no success.

I have come close but the cutout for the drive shaft (on the end of the butterfly shaft on the carb)

is 180 degrees out on the BMW 13 63 1 402 143 part which is electrically ok otherwise.

I was hoping you had a more precise reference of a good cross for the 966482.

    Thanks very much

    b
