I have a 912IS factory fitted to an aircraft. The engine coolant overheats after 5 minutes of operation at idle. Does anybody else have any experience with this problem

No. I installed the engine using the coolant radiator supplied by Kitfox. Below 30 deg F I see the temp about 120 Deg F or lower. Have not yet flown in temps above 50. A/C also has cabin heat radiator which is in parallel with engine radiator.

    Hi Geoffrey,

I seriously doubt it is the engine, but more likely the plumbing or a reduced radius hose. Something may not be plumbed correctly or hooked up backwards. They aren't having over heating issues so look at the setup on your plane. What is the temps you are seeing?

I drained and refilled the engine coolant, we may have had an airlock as the problem has gone away for now.
