Hello,
it's my first topic, so let me welcome all rotax users and introduce my self.
I am from Poland, and 2 weeks ago bought my first airplane with rotax 912IS engine.
It is TL-3000 Sirius UL-plane.

Plane is not new, it has 120 hours of flight, sold directly from TL Ultralight (airplane producer)

From the very first momement I have a problem with temp of head's cooling on the ground. It goes quite fast to the border temp 120 deg C!
If I take off before engine gets 100 - 105 deg, than it's OK, because I have time and space to cool it down in the air. But if I wait too long time on the ground (I operate from controlled airport) than the temp. crosses 120 deg C before I am on the right hight - and I cant cool down the radiator (Dynon Sky View after reaching 120 deg doenst show temp anymore, so I dont know if it goes up or down).

LT Ultralight use a fan behind the radiator, but I am affraid, it does not give any cooling on the ground. Do you know that solution? I am attaching 2 pictures of the radiator and fan and asking you for advices how to controll the heads cooling temp on the ground.

    Do you know if the fan is working on the ground since that is where you really need it.

    I know, that is was service bulletin for 912is installed in Pipistrel Virus. I don't know details but they also had problem with overheating on the ground. You can call polish dealer and ask.
    Probably it's mistake of installation and/or cowling, not engine itself.

    Hi!
    When you are taxing or waiting at holding point you have to fit 2500 rpm, to increase
    air and coolant recirculation, if you fit idle the engine temperature going up.
    This is that I do in my Tecnam Sierra.

    Hello Bart,

    1) We had a similar issue and the fan was working and still overheating was observed while taxing and the fan was already on. Upon further investigation, we did find out that the fan was wrongly connected (Reverse Polarity). I would start there just to rule out any wrong connections.

    2) I did notice that the fan is connected on the back of the radiator, does the fan have sufficient power to push air through the radiator.

    After some investigation I guess that my fan is wrong connected too, but it's not the point, because it does not work at all.
    Next suspected was temp sensor but it looks to be OK (short-circuting of wires gives no effect).

    Now I am comming to some strange transmitter (or repeater) build in by TL. The power is lost there. Have no idea what it is. Producer suggest to check wire by wire to search for power loss. I will have to do that...
