Checking of the correct positioning of sealing plug in ignition housing for ROTAX® Engine Type 912 i (Series)
Field observation has shown that in isolated cases the sealing plug was not pressed to its correct seating position in the ignition housing. In rare cases this may lead to loss of oil and subsequently loss of lubrication which leads to engine stoppage.
A simple visual check allows you to verify whether or not your engine may be affected.
Position shown in the photo above is OK - the top of the spherical plug is pressed in far enough: "below the lip".
This Alert Service Bulletin applies to a limited serial number range of 912iS / 912iS Sport engines and 912iSc / 912iSc Sport engines.
In addition, this ASB applies to any 912 i (series) engines which have been equipped with an engine housing part number 611594 during maintenance, repair, or overhaul prior to June 1st, 2017.
And a limited range of spare part stator sets with part number 685062 should also be checked (see the bulletin for part serial number ranges).
