So I had a chat with my AMO who also manufacture the Sling Aircraft in Johannesburg. According to them they have a number of aircraft (914 and 912) with similar problems - low pressure related either to climbing or elevated oil temp.

Apparently these problems started when Rotax stipulated a change to the Aeroshell Sport plus 4 across the board. Previously they used Elf 10W40 oil and had no issues. I'm told they are in discussion with Rotax about relaxing the oil requirement to include the previously used Elf oil for the 912/914 series. There are no aircraft with 915is engines with this particular issue.

I looked up the datasheet for the Aeroshell product and it is also 10W40 so I'm not sure if there is any truth to what they are saying but they are adamant that this particular issue started when they started using Aeroshell.

It would be so easy to prove/disprove. Just change the oil and see if the problem goes away.
