If you just installed a new 14 amp battery and that did not solve your problem, it seems extremely unlikely that simply going to an 18 amp battery will miraculously fix anything. I think you have eliminated the battery as a possible cause.

I agree. Another theory is there could be a problem during the switch over to the generator. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot that?

Before you go down a track that may not be the problem, how about you put a multimeter on your battery and watch as you start and see what the voltage does ? If it does drop down below 10V then a problem, if it stays around 12V then it is NOT a lack of power.
I would reverse flush your fuel system looking for restrictions and blockages.

Voltage began at 12.2 and dropped to 11.1 during the start process today. Nothing else was on other than the #1 fuel pump. Engine started, ran for a second, and then shut down. On the 2nd attempt it started fine. It doesn't seem fuel related - the engine runs fine once it starts. Someone suggested that the fuel pump could be wearing out and drawing more amps to make up for it. Does that make sense?
PS - Thanks for all the help.

AS the voltage only drops to 11.1 unlikely to be lack of power. What does the volts do just prior to the stoppage ? Perhaps film the volt meter with your phone ?
My IS had a small 11 AH battery which as it became older the volts would drop down to 8-9 volts on start. Replaced with a 16 AH Lithium now all fine on startup.
Engines need spark and fuel, what is the fuel pressure doing just before the stoppage
You could also borrow a dongle and look for error logs to see why it is stopping ?
