Buongiorno,

I'm figuring out how set elec sys on my project.

Pin 3 on connector X3 is split with one connection to start pwr switch and other to 12Vdc line with 30A C/B

May I consider this line and C/B like old alternator switch/C/B on 912uls?

On my prew 912 uls alternator/generator was protected by switch/cb of 30A likw Tyco w31/30 and in case i was able to disconect it manually but i'm not sure if on 912is is the same

Grazie

    Hello,

I read your post and I just wanted to help you, There is no reason to put a swich, fuse or braker on the charge line it's a non sense, I was regrettable if it was like that on your precedent aircraft it was a mistake!

the fonction of courant regulation is made by x2 regulators and as I know there is no problem with them (not like the Ducati's of the ULS)connect it like it's write on the Installation Manual don't making you brain knots!

    Hi,

As far I know Alternator switch is present on all A/C and breaker on my prew installation was installed to protec the alt line in case of malfunfuncion and over Current draw.

    On Rotax installation manual , wiring diagram ther's always 30A c/b  between x3 pin 3 and  12vdc bus .

My question was if this line is considered like supply line  12Vdc  to 12vdc bus line ( where also batery is connected)and if has sense to install also a switch (to disconect in case of need)

If you look at the 912ULS and 912is installation manuals you will note that the ULS has an Alternator Switch called out and the 912is does NOT.
The reason is because the ULS has a traditional Generator feeding an external Regulator and the 912is has internal Generators and regulators.
When the engine is stopped, the ULS regulator will continue to draw power from the battery, eventually depleating it.
A ULS Alternator Switch is Required to prevent a dead battery while stored.

The 912is engine internally disconnects the regulators when it is stopped and does not discharge the battery.
A 30A circuit breaker or fuse should be installed in line with X3-3 to protect the wiring in an over-current event, but there is no need to add an Alternator switch that you do not need to turn OFF. You are just adding another failure point.
Unless there is a compelling reason to disconnect the circuit in a 912is engine, Don't !
