Re: Bizarre Lane A/B Light Illumination (Video))

Does the problem come and go? You noted that it operates OKAY on the deck.
Did it do it from the beginning?
I also have a lane light problem. Mine is that the Lane A annunciation is on about half brilliance after the ECU goes thru the self test.
anyway, interested in the problem and solution!
Thx

Hey Mike!
Saw your post on VAF and immediately came here to check.
Yeah i managed to locate the issue. It was a chafing wire from the ignition module leading to the HIC and ECU. The wires were rubbing on the GEA24 box and were grounding out on the edge of the box. I had issues intermittently, but NOT from the very beginning . I only first noticed anything unusual about 125hrs TT and it took many more to fully develop. Never an actual fault logged on the ecu. I believe i have my youtube video still up to view.
You can see that the light is half brilliance and flickering. If you look really closely you can see that it flickers even though it may appear to be solid.
Try pulling the avionics cover and specifically trace the Lane B/Lane A warn lamp wires. Also the LANE B ECU wires and see if you can find any chafing or grounding.
Ive got a lot of faith in the Rotax ECU and Garmin monitoring system so it was no surprise when I discovered that it was a simple faulty wire. Ill attach a photo of the sets of wires that caused my issue.
