    Hi all

OK I am no electrical expert however can answer a few of the many questions that came up on the iS wire system.  Indeed anything on the airframe side is the OEM, like Tecnam, who make the airframe harness.  The Rotax harness is white because it is tefzel wire, a teflon wire coating that is highly resistant to heat and required by many authorities as it will not melt or burn until very high temperatures (150C or 300F in most cases)  In the event of a fire you do not want poisonous fumes in the cockpit.  As for where does the energy go when the B side generator stops feeding the aircraft wiring.  Simply speaking it is directed to ground by the shunt type regulators on the side of the fuse box.

Thanks Rotax Wizard. Speaking of those voltage regulators on either side of the engine fuse box, I just stuck a thermal sticker on the one closest to the outside… a sticker that turns black if a certain temp is reached … as I want to see how hot that part of the engine bay gets. Any harm in that? Is putting a small sticker on there bad for any reason? Do those regulators get extremely hot? I also stuck one on the backside of the oil cooler and on the oil filter. It tells me if they hit 150, 200, 250, or 300F. Reason being I have hot oil temps and no one seems to understand why. Just trying to collect more data.

You can place thermal temp stickers on any part. I did a research project years ago on the VR and ignition modules in Flight Design's to check temps. Mine were 145F. Too much heat can cause malfunctions. I'm  surprised more aircraft Mfg's don't  do this to check their cowl air flow and under cowl temps.

    Hi all

A check in the installation manual, IM 912iS, has the exact readings to not exceed and the correct location to mount your temp sticker.  I added that page below so you can see.  If you are hitting high temps you do not have the correct airflow under your cowling.

    Cheers
