    Hi Ken!

What kind of aircraft do you have?

It's essential to validate the installation of your engine to ensure you're meeting all operating parameters and staying within the maximum temperature and pressure limits. Each section of the Rotax installation manual provides guidance on how to validate your systems, including coolant, oil, fuel, electrical, and exhaust.

Performing hot weather testing is crucial to ensure that the engine cowl design allows for proper airflow over heat-sensitive components and facilitates adequate heat escape to prevent "heat soak." This testing is also vital for confirming proper airflow through the radiators.

If your aircraft is factory-built or if you've purchased a "firewall-forward package," it's important to request testing and validation data that demonstrates compliance with the Rotax installation manual. If the manufacturer cannot provide this information, you will need to undertake the significant and challenging task of validating the installation yourself. This process may include making changes and adjustments to the design to ensure it is within all parameters.

If you are unable to perform validations of your systems and implement design changes, you must operate the aircraft in a manner that keeps everything within safe operating limits. This may include implementing "step climbs," avoiding operations above certain ambient temperatures and altitudes and making other necessary adjustments.

    EGT Temp

    • Max EGT: 950C (1742F)

(EGT- Split is the difference between the highest EGT value and the lowest EGT value)

    • EGT-Split at > 3 Liter/hour (Fuel consumption). MAX: 200 °C (392 °F)
    • EGT-Split at < 3 Liter/hour (Fuel consumption). MAX: 500 °C (932 °F)

    OIL Temp

    • Normal Temp: 50 °C (122 °F)
    • Max Temp: 130 °C (266 °F)

    Coolant Temp

    • Max Temp: 120C (248F)

Make sure your EGT probes are at the proper distance from the head.
