Paul,
What aircraft is your 915 iS installed in? Do you have a Garmin G3X touch or Dynon Skyview HDX panel by chance?

I have received an explanation from our Rotax distributor. They say that the water temperature is heating up much quicker than the oil temperature, due to a thermostat valve. The system measured I think a 40 degree difference between the water temperature and oil temp and this produced the warning light. Things will of course balance eventually. I was told also that the Rotax manual does say that flashing warning lights can be turned off and on to see if the system will keep alerting or of the problem was temporary and has passed.

Just because somebody, somewhere, at some time might have had that issue, doesn't mean you do.
You have no idea what the problem might be until you actually read the ECM log.
Until then, you are just grasping at straws.

I have had a call from my regional Rotax distributor here in the UK. They have said that the log download has a warning about coolant temperature, vs oil temperature. There can be a large difference between the two during the warm up phase they say. I've been told that this can happen if there is a thermostat value which is closed when water temp is cold, and so this causes the engine water temperature to heat up much quicker than the oil temperature (which is perhaps circulating through radiators when the water is not).
It was pointed out that the Rotax manual does allow for resetting of the Lane light, and they say that if the light stays off after a reset, then it is ok.

I am confused???
You state that your Regional Distributor called you about the Log Download.
When did you download the Log file and why wasn't it looked at immediately, right in the hanger. ???
