BUDS log viewer

You can’t. Only authorized centers can like Lockwood or Leading Edge. That being said you can just use Excel. I use Excel to chart the data. 

If you can just use Excel to do the same thing, why would they restrict it to authorized centers?

Pretty complex files.  The log viewer helps to diagnose issues.  I've seen it, I just created custom Excel files to troubleshoot since Rotax doesn't make it available.

Are they now going to tell me that I am not allowed to have the tools that I need to troubleshoot a fault?

Yes you are correct.  Rotax has put a restriction on the log viewer.  It is not easy to use and it is not intuitive.  For sure some can download it to an excel file, not me however.   I am a borderline idiot with computer programs.  The BUDS will create a log file but they are saying a special program will be available to learn to use the log viewer starting later this year.  

It has not been for the lack of asking on the service side.  With luck the new program viewer will be documented within the heavy manual in the future also.
