I have had the terminals work loose twice now from the regulator, The fault was shown by no charge. I re pushed them upwards each time, is there a cure for this..

    Hi Ian,

If you are talking about the wires that go into the big black plug on the reg/rec then yes there is a fix. These terminal ends should have been the type that have a small raised tab that allows this to click and lock in place. If you have removed them then these raised tabs may be flattened or even broken. Maybe you didn't push these in far enough to lock and make a good solid connection.

I will get onto that, Our Rotax engineer told this is a very common issue! It has actually happen 3 times on my unit.

It won't happen if you use the right spade connectors with the tab because they lock in place. Then squeeze the plug firmly in place with two hands to make sure all the connectors within that plug get seated firmly onto their opposite mate in the reg/rect

Many thanks again Roger. I'll make sure I use the correct ones.

I have had this issue on my Sting Sport more times than I care to recall. A temporary fix has been to use needle nose pliers to clamp the female spadefoot down slightly, so it fits tighter to the male. Once, whilst in the field on a trip, I even used this trick to get home: Placing a folded piece of cardboard behind the offending wire, to keep spadefoot pressure--and current flow--constant). B) And, as Roger says, that little tab is critical. I found that once that tab has been weakened by a few bends back-n-forth (installing/removing each wire from the plastic block), just the pressure of heating the connector can push it loose over time. At this point, I solder on a new female spadefoot to the wire. In concert with this issue, be sure you have a good, solid ground connection to the regulator--or fixing weak spadefoot connectors won't solve the problem.
